Public Schools

If you decide to enroll your children in the public school system, they will be a part of the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN). The DSBN offers a variety of public schools for all grades in Welland, many of which offer specialized programs such as French immersion, arts, and STEM to give students the opportunity to develop skills in diverse areas.

Elementary Schools

Quaker Road Public School
The closest public elementary school to Appellation is Quaker Road Public School. This school is a great choice for children in grades JK-8. Recent funding from the government has allowed the school to grow by increasing capacity and building a new gymnasium.

Gordon Public School
For families looking to enroll their children in a French Immersion program, Gordon Public School offers French Immersion starting in Grade 1. 

Secondary Schools

For students in grades 9-12, Welland Centennial Secondary School is the closest high school to Appellation. With approximately 800 students, this school offers a diverse range of programs and clubs to cater to different student interests. This school also offers a French Immersion program where students have the opportunity to take 10 French-language credits taught in French and receive a French Immersion Certificate upon graduation. 

Catholic Schools

Appellation is also zoned for several Catholic schools that are part of the Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB). These schools offer faith-based education with an emphasis on academic excellence.

Elementary Schools

Alexander Kuska Catholic Elementary School
In the NCDSB, Appellation is zoned for Alexander Kuska Elementary School. Offering classes from JK to Grade 8, the school’s mission is to provide a Christ-centred learning environment and a community of faith and learning. 

St. Andrew Catholic Elementary School
Part of the Notre Dame College School Family of Schools, this Catholic elementary school is a great option for students living in Appellation looking for a French Immersion program. 

Secondary Schools

Notre Dame College School
As the largest secondary school in the Niagara Region, Notre Dame College School is a terrific option for high school students. Part of the Niagara Catholic District School Board, this school offers upgraded facilities for academic and extracurricular activities, including a new drama theatre, a science and technology wing, and a football field. This is also the closest school option for students who wish to continue with the French Immersion program in the NCDSB.

Post-Secondary Education

For families with older children or for anyone who wants to go back to school and continue their education, the Niagara Region is home to excellent post-secondary schooling options. Both Niagara College and Brock University offer a variety of programs and courses so that you or your children can pursue their passions at a reputable school close to home.

Niagara College
Niagara College, a prominent post-secondary institution, is located in Welland, making it very convenient for Appellation residents to study there. Niagara College offers a variety of diploma and degree programs in fields such as health sciences, business, technology, and hospitality.

Brock University
About 15 minutes by car from Appellation in St. Catharines is Brock University, which offers over 120 bachelor’s and graduate programs. With a vibrant campus life and several athletic teams (go Badgers!), students will love being on campus but also love the short commute back home.
